Porta works with fring, however there are some issues.

Fring  passes all voice traffic through their own servers.

First, there is a privacy implication, since all calls go unencrypted through fring servers.

Second, fring servers support g711 and GSM codecs and this can not be changed in the client.
Unfortunately, they use a broken implementation of the GSM codec, which is incompatible with the one that is used by the few telecom vendors that support GSM (notablt, Verizon and AT&T).

So, if your vendors do not support GSM, it will work with g711.

If you vendors do support GSM, there's a high probability you will get one-way audio on your calls.

We've found that the fring client uses a non-standard implementation of the GSM codec which causes the one-way audio.

We have found two work-arounds:

1) use MERA MVTS and modify GSM codec configuration in SIP-HIT transcoding module

2) use a special SIP proxy configuration that will force some codec adjustments on calls from fring.

Thank You.
